Role Overview
This internship sits within IQVIA’s Product Engineering team and focuses on developing next-generation AI-powered enterprise applications. The intern will work with architects, developers and quality engineers in an Agile environment across software development, backend engineering, Generative AI and quality engineering.
- Build, test and optimise scalable software components using Python and modern development frameworks.
- Develop backend services with FastAPI and microservices architecture.
- Create AI-powered solutions using Large Language Models, Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
- Build and validate REST APIs, integrations and data-driven business rules.
- Design automated testing solutions for functional, API, integration, end-to-end and performance testing.
- Work with structured and unstructured data across enterprise applications and data platforms.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Candidates must be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain software components using Python.
- Build, consume and validate REST APIs and integrations across enterprise applications.
- Develop solutions using LLMs, Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering and RAG techniques.
- Contribute to backend services built with FastAPI and microservices architecture.
- Design reusable automation frameworks and scripts for functional, integration, API and end-to-end testing.
- Execute functional, regression, integration and performance test plans.
- Analyse defects, identify root causes and work with development teams on resolutions.
- Implement business rules and validation logic using structured and unstructured data.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, performance optimisation and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Developers and QA teams across global locations.
- Explore emerging AI technologies and apply them to practical business challenges.
Skills Required
- Strong proficiency in Python, along with knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, API integration concepts, JSON and XML.
- Experience with Postman or similar API testing tools.
- Strong SQL skills and the ability to write complex queries and validate data across systems.
- Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server or Snowflake.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and test automation best practices.
- Knowledge or coursework in LLMs, Prompt Engineering, RAG, AI Agents and Multi-Agent Systems.
- Exposure to tools and platforms such as LangChain, LangGraph, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or AWS Bedrock.
- Understanding of AWS or Microsoft Azure and basic cloud-native application development.
- Familiarity with GitHub or GitLab, Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD concepts and Jira.
- Preferred knowledge includes FastAPI, backend development, microservices, Docker, machine learning fundamentals, knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic search and information retrieval.
- Preferred understanding of data engineering, Master Data Management, data governance and enterprise integration concepts.
- Relevant certifications may include Python Programming, Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS AI Practitioner, Generative AI, LLM, LangChain or Agentic AI certifications.
