Role Overview
The Software Quality Engineer will work within KLA’s FaST division, which develops metrology solutions for measuring film thickness, critical dimensions, composition and resistivity in semiconductor manufacturing. The role combines software quality engineering with automation and AI-led productivity improvements.
- Validate software products and features used in semiconductor inspection and metrology workflows.
- Develop automated testing frameworks, utilities and tools to improve coverage and testing efficiency.
- Apply Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents and data analytics to test design, defect analysis, reporting and engineering productivity.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Master’s Level Degree with 0 years of related work experience, or Bachelor’s Level Degree with 2 years of related work experience.
- Candidates should be available to work in Chennai.
- Willingness to travel to customer fabrication facilities for use-case understanding, software deployment and troubleshooting support is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Qualify new and existing software products through functional, regression, performance, reliability and system-level testing.
- Design and execute test plans, test cases and validation strategies for product quality.
- Analyse test results and publish qualification reports, recommendations, training materials and Best Known Methods.
- Assess automation feasibility and develop automated test solutions, frameworks and tools.
- Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, deployment, troubleshooting and customer support throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Work with Algorithm, System Engineering, Applications Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Marketing and Customer Support teams across global locations.
- Represent the Software Quality Engineering team in product lifecycle reviews, programme meetings and cross-functional initiatives.
- Identify, prototype and deploy high-impact AI use cases for the Software Quality Engineering organisation.
Skills Required
- Strong programming skills in Python, C#, C++ or Java.
- Knowledge of software testing, automation frameworks and quality engineering methodologies.
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts, Generative AI, prompt engineering, AI agents or AI application development.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
