Role Overview

This internship is part of the Loads and Controls Engineering Department within the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Technology organisation. The intern will support software and engineering workflows used for automated reporting, controller validation and reliable delivery of tools for wind-turbine development.

  • Work on MATLAB and Python functions for automated reporting and controller validation.
  • Test software tools, analyse results and support improvements based on engineering requirements.
  • Contribute to documentation, data analysis reports, technical presentations and controller certification material.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a B. Tech degree in the 3rd or 4th year, or an M. Tech degree in the 1st year.
  • Eligible engineering disciplines include Control & Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or a related engineering discipline.
  • No prior professional experience is required. Academic or personal project experience in relevant programming languages is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in designing and programming functions in MATLAB and Python.
  • Support the testing and validation of new and existing software tools for functionality and reliability.
  • Debug tools and help improve performance using user feedback and project requirements.
  • Implement and improve automated build, testing and CI/CD procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain user guides, development notes and other technical documentation.
  • Support data analysis reports and technical presentations for engineering reviews.
  • Prepare controller certification documents.

Skills Required

  • Strong Python programming and MATLAB skills.
  • LaTeX and object-oriented programming knowledge.
  • Software testing and version control systems, including Git or Mercurial.
  • Familiarity with agile development tools such as Jira.
  • Exposure to continuous integration pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins or Artifactory.
