Role Overview
The engineer will be part of the Radar Firmware group developing embedded software for TI’s industry-leading mmWave radar portfolio. The work covers firmware, evaluation tools and interfaces that help customers use radar sensors in safety-critical automotive and industrial products.
- Develop real-time software for radar configuration, calibration and high-speed data acquisition.
- Build fault-tolerant firmware with diagnostic coverage and fail-safe mechanisms.
- Create customer-facing RF evaluation applications, tools and test firmware.
- Contribute to reusable interface libraries, automated testing and CI/CD activities.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in embedded systems firmware development.
- An electronics engineering graduate with a firmware development background is preferred.
- Experience with bare-metal firmware development is required.
- Experience with embedded real-time systems firmware programming and engineering principles is required.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl or Lua is required.
- Exposure to debugging critical embedded software issues using JTAG, trace and logic analyser tools is required.
- Exposure to software development life cycles, including unit, integration and firmware qualification, is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded firmware compliant with ISO 26262 ASIL-D and IEC 61508 SIL-3 requirements.
- Implement firmware for TI’s mmWave radar sensors and processors.
- Develop firmware for mixed signal analogue and digital system-on-chip and ROM environments.
- Build analogue circuit firmware drivers and calibration algorithms.
- Design scalable libraries that abstract sensor functionality and simplify customer use.
- Work with hardware teams to define firmware-hardware interfaces, considering software usage, compatibility, performance and reuse.
- Develop automated testing frameworks and contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Support customer engagements by providing technical guidance during product integration.
- Assist with safety audits and assessments involving TÜV and external certification bodies.
Skills Required
- Strong programming ability in C and assembly language.
- Understanding of compilers and linkers.
- Embedded real-time systems programming and firmware engineering knowledge.
- Bare-metal firmware development experience.
- Python, Perl, Lua or similar scripting skills.
- Ability to use JTAG, trace and logic analyser tools for debugging.
- Knowledge of unit testing, integration testing and firmware qualification.
