Indian Coast Guard – www.indiancoastguard.nic.in – invites online application for the post of Assistant Commandant (Group A Gazetted Officers) across India.

Position : Assistant Commandant

Salary : Rs 60k+ per month

Eligibility Criteria :

General Duty
Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (ie. 1 st Semester to 8th Semester for BE/B.Tech or 1st year to last year for Bachelor Degree Candidates wherever applicable). Mathematics and Physics as subject up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education with 60% aggregate marks in Maths & Physics [Candidates not in possession of Physics & Maths in 10 + 2 (Intermediate) level are not eligible for General Duty (GD) & General Duty (Pilot/Navigator)]
Male 01.07.1991 to 30.06.1995 (both dates inclusive).
General Duty Pilot Male 01.07. 1991 to 30.06.1997 (both dates inclusive).
Law

Note : Only for SC / OBC

A Degree in Law with minimum 60 % marks from a recognised University. (Three years degree in Law after graduation) or (Five years after 10+2 examination)
Male 01.07.1983 to 30.06.1995 for OBC & 01.07.1981 to 30.06.1995 for SC (Both dates inclusive)
Technical branch (Mechanical and Electrical)

Note :Only for SC / ST / OBC

(i) Engineering degree with 60% marks in aggregate or Should have passed Sections A and B examination from the Institution of Engineers (India) in any of the discipline listed below with 60% marks. (a) Engineering Branch Naval architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace. (b) Electrical Branch Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engg. or Power Electronics. * All the above streams of Engineering must be recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). (ii) 60% marks in aggregate in Physics and Maths in 12th class. or Three year diploma course with an aggregate of 60%
Male 01.07.1988 to 30.06.1995 for OBC & 01.07.1986 to 30.06.1995 for SC/ST (Both dates inclusive)
Short Service Appointments. Short Service Appointments as Assistant Commandant for a period of 08 years, which may be extended to 10 years and further extendable up to 14 years.
Pilots
12th class pass with 60% marks in aggregate and should possess current / valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) approved by DGCA on the date of Preliminary Selection.
Male/ Female 01.07.1991 to 30.06.1997 (both dates inclusive).
General Duty(Women)
Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Mathematics and Physics as subject up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education with 60% aggregate marks of both subjects
Male/ Female 01.07.1991 to 30.06.1995 (both dates inclusive).

 

Selection Process :

After successfully shortlisting of applications, candidates have to go into two stages of selection.

Stage – I : Preliminary Selection

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Preliminary Selection at given date and time which will consist of Mental Ability Test/ Cognitive Aptitude Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). The aptitude test will be in English only and will be objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. Date/ time and venue of Preliminary Selection once allotted will not be changed at any stage.

Stage – II : Final Selection Board

The candidates qualifying above Preliminary Selection will be called for Final Selection. The date and venue for Final Selection Board (FSB) will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard website . The Final Selection will consist of Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test).

Medical Standards :a) Height. (i) Asst Commandant (GD) and Technical: 157 cms minimum. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations. (ii) Asst Commandant General duty (Women) : 152 cms. (iii) Asst Commandant (Pilot) and Asst Commandant Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders for Short Service Appointment (Men/Women): Minimum 162.5 cms and maximum 197 cms, leg length minimum 99 cms. (b) Weight. Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable. (c) Chest. Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms. (d) Eye Sight. (i) Asst Commandant (GD) – 6/6 6/9 – Uncorrected without Glass. and Asst Comdt GD(Women) 6/6 6/6 – Corrected with Glass. (ii) Asst Commandant GD(P/N) 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other /CPL Holders SSA correctable to 6/6. (iii) Asst Commandant (Tech) 6/36 6/36–Uncorrected without Glass. 6/6 6/6 – Corrected with Glass.
