Always solve using symbols for the relation , Note down the following symbols or you can make it of your own too

– – – => Brother or Sister (Use subscript f for sister and m for brother)

+ + + (use vertically as they are in upper level) => Father or Mother (Use subscript f for mother and m for father)

+ + + (use vertically as they are in lower level) => Son or Daughter (Use subscript f for daughter and m for son)

* * * => Husband or Wife (Use subscript f for wife and m for husband)

Let’s solve problems using this method.

Example 1 : If Neena says, “Anita’s father Raman is the only son of my father-in-law Mahipal”, then how is Bindu, who is the sister of Anita related to Mahipal ?

  1. Niece
  2. Daughter
  3. Wife
  4. Daughter-in-law
  5. None of These

Answer 1 : Since we know the genders  here and question is not based on the gender, so we just need to go with the diagram according to our solving tricks

Let’s draw the diagram based on it

problem 1 _blood_relationsAs you can see, Bindu is sister of Anita , who is daughter of Raman. Therefore Bindu is daughter of Raman too. Since Mahipal is father of Raman, Therefore Mahipal is Grandfather of Bindu.

Therefore, Bindu is Granddaughter of Mahipal , which is not present in the options. So the correct answer is 5. None of These.

Example 2 : Pointing towards a person in the photograph, Anjali said, ” He is the only son of the father of  my sister’s brother.” How is that person related to Anjali ?

  1. Cousin
  2. Brother
  3. Son
  4. Father
  5. Uncle

Answer 2 :  Let’s draw the diagram using our symbols …

problem 2 _ blood_relations

Therefore from the above picture , we can depict that the person is brother of Anjali  (Since he is the only son ). Thus the answer 2. Brother is right
