About Common Admission Test CAT 2015 Notification :

Common Admission Test CAT 2015 Notification is out. The registration is scheduled to start from 6th August 2015 and The exam is going to be held on 29 November 2015 ( Sunday ). CAT is said to be one of the toughest exam to get admission into premier B-School institutes like Indian Institutes of Management IIM and also CAT scores are valid for many other top B-Schools. The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct Common Admission Test 2015 (CAT 2015) on 29th November, 2015 in two sessions. CAT 2015 will be conducted by IIMs as a pre-requisite for admission to various management programmes of IIMs.

Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2015 :

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Recognized University / Institution with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA ( 45% in case of SC / ST / PwD )
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2016 from the Principal/ Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2016) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate
  • In case the candidates are awarded grades/ CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor’s degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.

  • Others : Rs 1600/-

Important Dates for CAT 2015:

  • Online Registration for CAT 2015 : 06th August to 20th September 2015
  • Admit Card Download : 15th October 2015, 1:00 PM till Exam Day
  • Test Date : 29th November 2015 (Sunday)
  • Results Declaration : Second week of January 2016

CAT 2015 Score :

A candidate’s CAT 2015 score card will be made available at the and individual information will not be sent. The CAT results will be declared by 2nd week of January, 2016. CAT 2015 score is valid till December 31, 2016. The candidates’ scores will be made available till December 31, 2016. Subsequent to that date no queries related to issuance of CAT 2015 score cards will be entertained.

Admission Process after CAT 2015 :

Please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for its second stage of selection which may be different for each IIM.

The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2015 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. For more information you may refer to the admissions policies of IlMs from their respective websites.

Before a prospective candidate makes a decision to appear for CAT2015, he/she must visit the websites and/or read programme advertisements of the concerned IIM and specific programmes to ensure which programmes they want to apply for, eligibility requirements and admission processes. List of non-IIM member institutions that have registered to avail the CAT 2015 scores is provided at CAT 2015 Scores are restricted only for admission to IlMs and non-IIM member institutions. IIMs have no role in the selection process of Non-IIM Institutions.

Paper Pattern and Test Duration : ( No new patterns yet notified )

CAT 2014 exam was conducted online and had a total duration of 2 hours and 50 minutes  and most probably followed by CAT 2015.

The CAT exam  is divided into two sections, these are :

  • Data Interpretation & Quantitative Aptitude
  • Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning
  • There will be 100 questions. 50 each from both the sections. Candidates can attempt any question at any time.
